In June 2007, the USMLE program discontinued the provision of official paper score reports to examinees. Now, examinees log onto a secure website and, using password protection, are able to view, download and print their performance results. This change in the method of provision of test results has resulted in faster turnaround on score reporting to examinees, especially those who reside overseas.
While Internet-based score reporting is no less secure than printing and mailing official score reports, USMLE would like to take the event of this modification in score reporting procedures to remind all third-party score users of the importance of relying only on official USMLE transcripts for examinee score information. Over the past several years, the program has been made aware of several cases of examinees submitting altered score reports to program directors and other score users. Third-party score users can avoid this type of deception by accepting only the official USMLE transcript.
